Kangol Squalor

Time Is Slow:

Each week, I will post a photograph as part of a challenge from the Daily Post – you are invited to participate. This week, the challenge is entitled, Delta – meaning the difference, or change, in a certain quantity.

Please show me your interpretation of the subject by adding a comment, with a link to your Website post, Facebook photo, Flickr image, etc.

This week, share a photograph that signifies transitions and change to you. It can be the very beginning of a phase, or the very end. As you pick up your lens, explore the ways in which a single photograph can express time, while only showing us a small portion of any given moment.

The famous brand, Kangol had its roots in West Cumbria, at Cleator, but the push to follow money and profit meant that the head office and factory units were abandoned in 2009. What remains now, is squalor and empty shells. The change in fortune for the area has been upsetting to say the least.

In 2015, Cleator was promised positive change, with a declaration that the dilapidated buildings were to be razed to the ground, to make way for a modern office complex creating much needed employment. We are still waiting for this to happen.

Time is painfully slow.

E.B White: The trouble with the profit system has always been that it was highly unprofitable to most people.
